Pop-punk party
Fresh from a trek through the Northeast opening for Fall Out Boy, pop-punk upstarts Hey Monday have landed a sweet gig headlining MySpace Music’s “Let’s Make a Mess” tour, which will make a stop (and, I suppose, a mess) inside Xtreme Wheels (356 Hertel Ave.) beginning at 6 p. m. Sunday.
Led by singer Cassadee Pope, Hey Monday is sitting pretty, its new video, “How You Love Me Now” having racked up some 300,000 hits on MySpace during its three-day premiere period in early June, and its band page on that site now registering some 16 million hits.
With numbers like these, it’s no wonder that MTV has latched on to Hey Monday, pushing the band rather relentlessly over the past several weeks, just as the group found itself the topic of high-profile features in Seventeen, Kerrang! and Entertainment Weekly magazines.
All of this, and the band members graduated high school less than two years back. Clearly, Hey Monday is connecting. So much for college.. .
The “Let’s Make a Mess” tour is an all-ages event. In addition to Hey Monday’s headlining set, Stereo Skyline, the Bigger Lights, the Friday Night Boys and the Providence will perform. More information is available through www.xtremewheels.com.
