Former HoganWillig home sold
Updated: August 21, 2010, 12:22 AM
A national doctor-owned firm that manages emergency medicine, wellness and other specialist programs has acquired the former home of law firm HoganWillig near University at Buffalo’s North Campus.
Williamsville-based Exigence Group paid $2 million to buy the 20,120-square-foot, two-story building located at 1 John James Audubon Parkway, at the corner of North Forest Road. The building will become Exigence’s national headquarters and administrative offices, said Chief Financial Officer Irving Levy.
The property was acquired from One John James Audubon Partnership, whose principals are developers Frank L. Ciminelli, William B. Stark Jr. and Sonny Savarino. Ciminelli is the father of developers Paul and Louis Ciminelli, while Savarino is the father of builder and developer Sam Savarino.
HoganWillig, which had been leasing the space, is moving across the street to a new multi-tenant office building being constructed at 2410 North Forest by Iskalo Development Corp. It will occupy the third floor of the 82,000-square-foot, three-story building.
Exigence is a medical practice management company that provides back-office administrative services for emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, urgent care, occupational medicine and wellness practices nationwide. The company was formed in 2005 by a group of doctors who had previously established Buffalo Emergency Associates in 2000, as an emergency medicine program at five large emergency departments in Western New York.
The doctor-owned firm now manages 20 physician practices around the country, comprising 400,000 patient visits annually, Levy said. Locally, the firm provides services to Western New York Immediate Care and Buffalo Emergency Associates.
“We’re not the ones providing the service, just managing the various practices,” said corporate counsel Joseph DiVincenzo.
Exigence is consolidating its existing headquarters at 6653 Main St., with 3,500 square feet, and a satellite office at 8180 Main St. into the new office.
The firm plans to occupy about 10,000 square feet in the building, and will lease the rest of the space, although no potential tenant has been identified yet.
