Man wanted for murder in Puerto Rico arrested in Buffalo
Updated: August 21, 2010, 10:22 AM
A man wanted in Puerto Rico on a first-degree murder charge was arrested Monday morning in
Buffalo, when three police agencies teamed up to find him hiding under a bed on Spaulding
Street, the state police reported.
Alejandro Tirado-Diaz, 27, was taken to the Erie County Holding Center, where he's being
held as a fugitive from justice.
Authorities in Puerto Rico last week contacted state police for help in locating
Tirado-Diaz after they learned he had been arrested in Buffalo last September. Buffalo police
then developed information about where Tirado-Diaz might be staying.
Tirado-Diaz is accused of shooting two young men, one fatally, in 2007. He was arrested in
Puerto Rico but subsequently jumped bail, state police reported.
The arrest Monday was made by the state police Violent Felony Warrant Squad, the U.S.
Marshals Service and Buffalo police.
