Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:16 AM
A Colden man faces several felony charges after his arrest Tuesday in connection with a May 25 incident, when he allegedly stole a Buffalo police cruiser then set it ablaze in Colden, Erie County sheriff’s officials said.
Scott G. Caldiero, 19, of Douglas Lane had been charged earlier by Buffalo police with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He was arraigned in City Court and released.
Caldiero was subsequently arrested by sheriff’s detectives and charged with arson and felony criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Colden Town Court and released.
Caldiero is accused of stealing the cruiser from outside Buffalo Police Headquarters at 74 Franklin St. on May 25. At about 4:45 a. m. the same day, Colden firefighters and sheriff’s officials discovered the cruiser engulfed in flames on Hayes Hollow Road in Colden.
