Boston teen accused of stealing police car
Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:13 AM
Buffalo police believe they know who stole a squad car in front of Police Headquarters: a young man from the Town of Boston.
Scott Caldiero, 19, of Douglas Lane, Boston, has been arrested and accused of stealing the police car on May 25, police said Saturday. Caldiero has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle and computer trespassing.
The marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria was parked in front of Buffalo Police Headquarters on Franklin Street when it was stolen just after 3 a. m. The car was not left running, but the keys may have been left in it, police said.
The cruiser was driven to the Colden area, where it was set on fire and discovered later that morning. The patrol car was taken back to the Seneca Street police garage, where it was searched for evidence.
