A Cattaraugus man was killed Saturday night after he lost control of his motorcycle, the second fatal Western New York motorcycle crash in less than 24 hours.

Charles L. Bailey, 50, was traveling on Hammond Hill Road in East Otto when he lost

control of his motorcycle, struck a ditch and was thrown from the vehicle. Bailey, who was

wearing a helmet, was flown by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center where he later died

of injuries to the upper body, according to the Cattaraugus County sheriff.

Meanwhile, North Tonawanda police are still not releasing the identity of a man who was

killed early Saturday in a motorcycle crash in the 900 block of Sweeney Street. A female

passenger was also injured.

There have been several motorcycle accidents in the area in the past couple of days.

A Lancaster man remains in critical condition following a motorcycle crash in Elma on

Saturday afternoon. Michael A. Stoldt, 29, was airlifted to ECMC. State police said a van

headed north on Bowen Road turned into the driveway of the Elma Library without yielding to

the motorcycle.

Stoldt was thrown from the cycle before it hit the van, and the force of the impact hurled

the motorcycle onto him as he lay on the road's shoulder. State police said the van was driven

by Norman Verbanic, 70, of Elma.

A Perrysburg man was injured Friday after losing control of his motorcycle on Allegany Road

near Silver Creek. The driver was taken to ECMC where he was treated and released.

Buffalo police are also investigating initial reports of a downtown accident this morning

that may have involved a motorcycle. Emergency crews were near the entrance ramp of the

Niagara Thruway near Oak and Swan streets shortly before 9:30 a.m. No details were immediately

available.
