BAKE SALE: Goodiefest Bake Sale to benefit the Food Bank of WNY will be held beginning at 5 p. m. Saturday at the Erie Canal Harbor, Central Wharf. The bake sale is held in conjunction with Buffalo Place, Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. and the City of Buffalo.

BUFFALO RIVER TOUR: Buffalo Niagara RiverKeeper will sponsor a tour of the Buffalo River from 10 a. m. to noon Sunday aboard the Miss Buffalo, 79 Marine Drive. The narrated tour will highlight the man-made features, ecologically significant shoreline and Buffalo’s past as a center of lake commerce and current efforts to clean our rivers. Cost is $20. Reservations recommended, call 852-3300.

ADOPT A CAT: Niagara Feline Friends will hold a cat adoption event from 1 to 5 p. m. Sunday at Petco, 1459 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. The adoption fee is $70. All of the cats have been spayed or neutered and have had at least their first series of shots. All have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV. The group also runs a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for cats and kittens. More information at www.niagarafelinefriends.com.

READING PROGRAM:The Portville Free Library’s reading program, Be Creative@the Library, will take place every Monday starting Monday at 6:30 p. m. in the library, 2 N. Main St., Portville. The closing program is on August 14. Each session will have a theme for ways to be creative with puppets, drama, movement with music, etc. For details, call 933-8164.

LECTURE SERIES: Letchworth State Park will host its lecture series at 7 p. m. Tuesday at the Lower Falls Restaurant in Letchworth State Park. This year’s series “The World of William Pryor Letchworth Hai-wa-ye-is-tah,” is themed around the Native American culture and will continue on Tuesdays during the months of July and August. ART EDUCATION:The Portville Free Library, 2 N. Main St., Portville, will host Take a Look at Matisse, at 11 a. m. the first three Tuesdays in July. The program is for children entering third grade through those just completing sixth. They will learn about the life of Matisse, his style of artwork and create one of their own. Registration is limited to 12 students. Call 933-8164 to register.

HEALTH INSTRUCTION: The Erie County Council for the Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse will present an interactive training on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome from 9 a. m. to noon Wednesday, july 8 in the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst. The program will provide new information on FAS and what strategies can be utilized to help women make healthy choices reguarding alcohol. Cost is $15. To register or for details, call 831-2298.
