Drunk drivers deserve much heavier fines
Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:05 AM
Every day, over and over again, it’s the DWI offender on the news killing an innocent victim. It sickens me that the drunks on the road feel they have the audacity to drive. And for the first time they got caught. It is very apparent that no program is working. Do you know of anyone who has an ignition lock?
So now what? What extreme measure does the public take to protect ourselves and our families from these lowlifes? Hold accountable the bar or tavern where they were sucking down 10 beers and four shots? Hold accountable the bartender who did that last shot with the drunk?
Simply fine each establishment. If the first bar he bellied up to is not bad enough, the second not to mention the third bar is a catastrophe. Fine them all!
So many fines add up, the watering hole’s liquor license is revoked? Why is that so hard? Why is it so hard to take keys away from a drunk and call a cab? The car is left in the establishment’s parking lot, the drunk has a ride home and another innocent life is spared.
When will it be enough?
