A fire caused severe damage to a North Buffalo record store Wednesday night, a Buffalo fire

official said.

The fire was reported at 8:52 p.m. at 2531 Delaware Ave., near Hartwell Road, a

2-and-one-half-story building that houses Spiral Scratch Records on the first floor and

apartments on the second.

The blaze began on the first floor and caused $100,000 damage. No one was injured and the

cause remains under investigation.

Spiral Scratch's Facebook page refers to the store as "North Buffalo's Oasis for Rock and

Roll!" and loyal customers already were offering to donate records and CDs to replenish the

store's inventory.

"The fire was contained to the shopfront and, while a little [smoky], not as horrific as it

may seem looking in from the sidewalk," a store representative wrote reassuringly on the site.
