GREAT VALLEY — A teen in this Cattaraugus County town has been charged in a "sexting"

case after, state police say, he passed along to other people a naked picture sent to his cell

phone by an underage female friend.

State police arrested Brock Monroe, 17, on felony charges of possessing a sexual

performance of a child under the age of 17 and promoting a sexual performance of a child under

the age of 17, said Trooper Rebecca M. Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the State Police Troop "A."

Monroe was arrested Wednesday but state police didn't disclose his arrest until this week.

State police say a female friend, whose age and precise relationship to Monroe weren't

revealed, sent a naked picture of herself to Monroe's cell phone.

Monroe is accused of forwarding the picture to other people, though the exact number of

people who received a copy of the image isn't known, Gibbons said.

State police began investigating the case in March after receiving a complaint from the

female friend. The probe is ongoing but Gibbons couldn't say whether other people who received

or forwarded the picture will face charges.
