Victim critical, man charged in Cheektowaga stabbing
Updated: August 21, 2010, 9:46 AM
An 18-year-old Cheektowaga man remains hospitalized in critical condition following a
stabbing Tuesday and another 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder,
Cheektowaga police reported today.
During an argument between the men, David Pagan, of Linda Lane, was threatened, then
stabbed in the chest at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Following the attack, in another
apartment on Linda Lane, Pagan walked to his own residence a few blocks away before calling
police.
He was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition today
in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit.
After the attacker fled on foot, police searched the area. Officers Jose Domenech, Brian
Wesoloski and David Filipski, acting on information obtained by detectives, found the suspect
walking on a street a few miles from the crime scene.
Police charged Brandon Murray, 18, of Surfside Parkway, with attempted murder and weapons
possession, according to crime reports.
Investigators said that Pagan had gone to see Murray, described as an acquaintance, in a
Linda Lane apartment. But police provided no information about how they knew each other or the
motive for the attack.
Murray was arraigned in front of Town Justice Thomas S. Kolbert and sent without bail to
the Erie County Holding Center, pending a felony hearing at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
