Sidney Crosby fan with gun robs mall pretzel shop
Updated: August 21, 2010, 9:46 AM
An armed man took an undetermined amount of cash from a pretzel shop in the Walden Galleria
this morning before barricading a store employee in the office and apparently fleeing from the
mall in a stolen Sidney Crosby hockey jersey, Cheektowaga police said.
The worker at Auntie Anne's pretzel stand told police he was robbed by a man with a handgun
as he opened the store for business at about 8:50 a.m. Following the theft from the office
safe, the robber barricaded the victim in the office by pushing a file cabinet against the
door, police said.
The worker eventually managed to force the door open and later learned that a Sidney Crosby
Pittsburgh Penguins jersey was missing from a rack in another room of the store. Witnesses
later told police they saw someone wearing such a jersey in the Union Road-Galleria Drive
area.
Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call Cheektowaga detectives at
686-3505.
