Woman charged with DWI after hitting house, trees, fence and barbecue
Updated: August 21, 2010, 9:46 AM
A Colden woman who recorded a 0.22 percent blood-alcohol level after her vehicle went off
Route 240 in Colden and scraped the outside of a home Monday night was charged with felony
DWI, Erie County sheriff's deputies reported.
Lorraine M. Sheridan lost control of her SUV, which went off the road shortly after 8 p.m.
and destroyed several small trees, a fence and a barbecue grill belonging to the homeowner.
The uninjured woman had left the scene of the accident, authorities said, but Deputies Don
Hoelscher and Paul McMahon apprehended her a short distance away. Her blood-alcohol reading
was nearly three times the legal limit.
They charged Sheridan, 49, with felony driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, and
leaving the scene of an accident, according to police reports. Deputies said a December 2005
conviction for driving while intoxicated led to the felony DWI charge.
