A Batavia woman accused of drunken driving and facing a prison sentence under a new law pleaded not guilty in Wednesday.

Michelle Crawford has been charged under Leandra’s Law, which makes driving while intoxicated with a child in the car a felony.

She has been in jail since her arrest on Clinton Street in Marilla at about 2 p. m. Dec. 27.

Kelley A. Omel, chief of the Erie County district attorney’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau, said Crawford was driving with her three children, ages 1, 3 and 4, when stopped in Marilla.

Last week, an Erie County grand jury indicted her on aggravated drunken driving with a child, child endangerment and traffic violations.
