Updated: August 21, 2010, 3:45 AM
MEDINA—A Medina man accused of providing beer to a teenager who later smashed his car into a tree, killing his 17-year-old girlfriend, was charged Wednesday with unlawfully dealing with a child, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said.
Justin L. Gray, 24, is accused of providing beer to Joshua Stockwell, 18, of Medina, on Dec. 5, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Stockwell is accused of driving drunk on Dec. 6, shortly after midnight, when his car ran off the south side of Martin Road in Shelby and smashed into a tree.
The crash killed Jenna H. Pratt, also of Medina.
Gray surrendered Tuesday. He appeared before Town of Shelby Justice Dawn M. Keppler on the misdemeanor charge and was released on his own recognizance. Stockwell was charged last week with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
