DWI charged after vehicle hits Cheektowaga home

Cheektowaga police have filed a charge of driving while intoxicated against the driver of a vehicle that slammed into a Borden Road home early Monday morning.
The vehicle driven by Steven J. Ruda, 21, of Countryside Lane, Depew, was westbound on Strasmer Road at about 3:40 a. m. when it went through a stop sign and smashed into the home at 1110 Borden Road, according to police reports.
Based on skid marks found at the scene, police officers estimated that the vehicle was traveling in excess of 70 mph. Ruda was charged with DWI and reckless driving, according to police reports.
