Registered sex offender accused of exposing himself
Updated: August 21, 2010, 3:41 AM
A registered sex offender has been charged with exposing himself to a young woman in the Wegmans store in West Seneca.
Police last week released store surveillance photos of the man who exposed himself Nov. 25 in the Orchard Park Road store. After one of the photos ran in The Buffalo News, police received several tips, including one from a town employee who recognized the suspect.
Ryan P. Donnelly, 25, of Chaffee, was charged with public lewdness, exposing himself in public and driving without a license. He was brought in for questioning Tuesday, according to West Seneca Detective Robert Bebak, who added that Donnelly had been arrested Nov. 4 in Amherst on a similar charge.
Donnelly was released from prison in Iowa about four years ago after serving time for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. A native of Western New York, he returned to the area after his release from prison and was designated a Level 3 sex offender, the most severe category.
He was arraigned Tuesday night before West Seneca Town Judge Dale J. McCabe and remains in Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $2,500 bail.
