A Delevan man died Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in Sardinia that state police attributed to snow-covered roads and unreasonable speed.

Erik T. Goodheart, 26, was traveling north on Route 16 at 5:57 p. m. when he lost control of his pickup and slid into the oncoming lane, Sgt. Donald Gardon said.

Goodheart’s pickup was struck broadside by a mail delivery truck operated by Harold M. Gibson of Holland.

The force of the collision broke the Goodheart vehicle into two sections and the victim, who was ejected, died of his injuries in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville. Gibson was treated for minor injuries in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo.
