A Marilla man allegedly attacked his wife with a snow shovel during an argument early Friday morning, according to Erie County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies were dispatched to an East Avenue residence shortly before 2:30 a. m., following a report of a couple fighting outside. They found a woman with a bloody chin; she had been hit in the chin and back with a shovel, deputies said.

Arthur W. Parry, 58, was charged with a felony assault count. He was being held in the Holding Center pending arraignment in Marilla Town Court.

The woman was treated by an ambulance crew called to the scene.
