EYE TO EYE—The warning signs and risk factors for two chronic eye conditions associated with aging—macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy— will be discussed by Dr. Mehdi Khan from Retina Consultants of Western New York at 1 p. m. Wednesday in the Schofield Adult Wellness Center, 3333 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Dr. Khan also will discuss options for treating these conditions. The lecture is free, but reservations are required. Call 995-3851.

BOOKED IN—Until Sunday, Hall of Fame Coach Marv Levy was the only man to win his first home game as an interim Bills skipper. He’s back in town this week for a series of appearances, including some autograph sessions for his new book, “Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in Buffalo Bills Football History.”

Levy and co-author Jeff Miller are in Wegmans, 675 Alberta Drive, Amherst, from 6 to 8:30 p. m. today and in Barnes& Noble Booksellers in the Mc-Kinley Mall, Blasdell, from 7 to 8:30 p. m. Tuesday.

CRUNCH TIME—Testing the limits of physical endurance is Lance Becvar of Cheektowaga, who will begin a 72-hour Stomach Crunches Marathon at 7 a. m. Tuesday in Planet Fitness, 5435 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Becvar, founder of Dads on Power Mode, an organization and Web site designed to encourage fathers to be more than just a dad, invites other fathers to talk to him during his breaks.

Becvar is crunching to raise funds for a pair of Salvation Army programs—the Emergency Family Shelter, the only shelter that accepts single dads, and Emergency Family Assistance. He can be seen crunching live via streaming video at www.ustream.tv.

MILITARY NOTES— Five Western New Yorkers recently completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. They are:

National Guard Airman First Class James R. Byrne, son of Anne Byrne of Grand Island. He is a 2002 graduate of Grand Island High School.

National Guard Airman First Class Tyrone S. Fields, son of Janine Guy of Niagara Falls. He is a 2008 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.

Reserve Airman Matthew A. Krupczyk, son of Donald Krupczyk of Grand Island. He is a June graduate of Grand Island High School.

ReserveAirmanJohnathan M. Perez, son of David Perez of West Seneca. He is a 2008 graduate of West Seneca High School.

AirmanAaronT. Smith, son of Timothy and Susan Smith of Westfield. He is a 2003 graduate of Westfield Academy High School.
