A Delevan man with three drunken driving convictions this year was arrested on charges of his fourth on Saturday, when Orchard Park police pulled him over in a stolen vehicle.

Paul J. Williams, 46, was charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, a felony charge, due to his three previous convictions, Orchard Park police said.

In one of those cases, Williams was charged by Erie County sheriff’s deputies in late September, after he was driving recklessly on Route 400 in the Town of Eden. Williams finally pulled over, and was apprehended by deputies after a brief foot chase.

On Saturday, Orchard Park Officer Jason Schiedel pulled Williams over at about 2:20 p. m. Saturday on Armor Duells Road, near the Route 219 Expressway, after police received numerous reckless driving complaints from motorists on the 219.

The vehicle Williams was driving was stolen from a home in Delevan, police said.

He also was charged with first-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree unlicensed operation and criminal possession of stolen property—all felonies.

Williams was being held for arraignment.
