LOCKPORT—Niagara County District Attorney Michael J. Violante apparently will not be disclosing his views on the Wilson baseball case that ended this week with the acquittal of two players and the dismissal of charges against two coaches.

A reporter who visited Violante’s office Friday to ask about the case was told by a secretary, “He can’t see you because it’s a sealed case.”

The sealing order hasn’t prevented the defense attorneys from commenting about the outcome—verdicts of not guilty for two 17-year-old players who had been charged with forcible touching and hazing, and the dropping of charges against coaches charged with child endangerment for allegedly failing to prevent the assault on junior varsity players by varsity players on a team bus ride last year.

There was one guilty plea to a child endangerment charge from a former player, and he is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 18 in Wilson Town Court.
