LEWISTON—The body of a man was recovered Saturday from a wooded area around Meyers Lake in the Town of Lewiston, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man, possibly intoxicated, who was unfamiliar with the area and possibly lost in the woods around Bond Lake County Park. After a two-hour search that was joined by Lewiston Police, the Border Patrol and State Police, the body was found at around 8 p. m. near Black Nose Spring Road.

Officers used night-vision equipment and a K-9 search dog to help find the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the death is under investigation. The name of the deceased was withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
