RANSOMVILLE—Authorities blamed a fire that heavily damaged a garage Tuesday on a man doing welding work on a car for the Ransomville Speedway.

The garage owned by Daniel Rampado, at 1870 Youngstown-Lockport Road, was discovered by Ransomville firefighters fully engulfed in flames just after 5:30 p. m.

Investigators said Aaron Rampado, the owner’s son, had left welding tools in the vehicle. The son said he attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful.

Destroyed in the fire were three cars, a pickup, seven ATVs and equipment, valued at $53,000. Damage to the building was placed at $17,000.
