Whether it was the new voting machines, or whether it was the prevailing feeling that “enough was enough,” the turnout of eligible voters in the Town of Sardinia was more than 60 percent. In reviewing turnout from other towns and villages, it would appear that Sardinia was tops in voter response.

As indicated in The News some months ago, the Sardinia supervisor (a registered Republican) was one of three supervisors in Erie County who would not be seeking re-election. She did, however, participate in the selection, endorsement and campaign for the Democratic candidates in the recent election.

The vote in Sardinia produced all Republicans with a plurality large enough to withstand any results from the absentee ballots. Much could be said about the past, but rehashing the problems of yesterday does not help solve the problems of the future.
