Woman accused of DWI, leaving crash scene

An Alden woman was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident at about 2:30 p. m. Wednesday on Clinton Street in Elma, Erie County sheriff’s deputies said.
A vehicle driven by Patricia Newman, 52, Two Road Road, sheared off a fire hydrant and knocked down a mailbox and street sign in the 7000 block of Clinton Street, deputies said.
