Identity theft case investigated by police

A Whitney Place woman told police somebody using her Social Security number for employment purposes failed to pay federal taxes, Buffalo police said.
The woman said a letter received last week from the IRS informing her that she owed taxes noted her Social Security number was used in July 2008 and in August 2009.
