Landlord arraigned on marijuana charges
Updated: August 21, 2010, 2:55 AM
LOCKPORT—The owner of a rental house in Cambria was arraigned Friday in Niagara County Court on marijuana charges that arose when police visited the property in response to a 911 call that turned out to be erroneous, Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said.
Martin Oliveri, 35, of Dana Drive, Lewiston, pleaded not guilty to second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis. The tenant in the Upper Mountain Road house, Matthew J. Karlack, 32, has been indicted on the same charges but has yet to be arraigned.
Wydysh said deputies found more than three pounds of marijuana, including some plants growing indoors, when they responded March 4 to a 911 call that turned out to be a false report of a man with a gun. No one was home at the time, defense attorney Wayne C. Felle said.
