HANOVER—Two Silver Creek men were taken to Chautauqua County Jail Monday after an alleged sale of a rented television that one of the men then reported stolen, Chautauqua County sheriff’s officials reported.
Authorities said Bryan R. Novaro, 19, of Barone Drive, reported to police that the 60-inch television was stolen from a garage, however, police said Novaro was allegedly making a false report to cover-up the disappearance of the television that was sold to another man.
Novaro was charged with grand larceny, conspiracy, false written statement and falsely reporting an incident.
Herbert W. Overbeck, 27, of Angell Road, was charged with grand larceny and conspiracy along with criminal possession of stolen property for also allegedly selling the stolen television to an unknown third person.
