A woman was attacked with a baseball bat during an attempted robbery at about 9 p. m. Saturday at Bailey Avenue and Broadway.

The woman said the assailant hit her with the bat as a female accomplice tried to steal her coat and earrings. When the victim to fell to the ground, the woman punched her and the man hit her again with the bat, this time in the back of the head. The attackers fled north on Bailey. The victim suffered bruises, swelling and a bloody nose.
