Channel 4 cuts Macko, Wrobel
Updated: August 21, 2010, 12:15 AM
Channel 4 weekend meteorologist Mary Beth Wrobel and reporter Rob Macko were let go Tuesday by the top-rated news department in town.
Wrobel was in her second stint at the CBS affiliate. She started her career in local radio here and was first on Channel 4 in 1991. She worked in several other markets before returning to WIVB-TV in December of 2000. Macko arrived here in March of 2006 from stations in Erie, Pa.
Macko confirmed that he is no longer with the station, but declined to comment beyond that. According to several sources, Wrobel was told Tuesday that she was being let go. She couldn’t be reached to comment.
The cuts were believed to have been made for economic reasons. However, Channel 4’s management also could not be reached to comment.
