Hires/Promotions/ Honors

Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Dr. Donald L. Trump was elected to membership in the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars. The Society of Scholars honors former postdoctoral fellows and faculty who have gained marked distinction in their fields. Dr. Trump is being recognized for a prolific academic career that includes leadership roles at the nation’s top cancer centers, as well as his clinical and research contributions, particularly in cancer drug development, to the field of genitourinary oncology.

The board of trustees of Maine Medical Center appointed Richard W. Petersen president and chief executive officer. Petersen was chief operating officer at the center for 10 years and formerly was senior vice president for Kaleida Health Systems in Buffalo. A graduate of Ithaca College, Peterson earned a master’s degree in business administration from Canisius College.

Saxony Securities, a St. Louis-based broker/dealer, recently opened its first WNY branch at 8060 Wehrle Drive in Williamsville. The staff includes: B. J. McNicholas, principal; Elroy Goodyear and Peter Scamurra, financial planners; and Peter Hochreiter and William Secor, registered representatives.

The Steel Plant Museum elected James W.Carey of East Aurora president for 2009-2010. Other officers: Vice President, Richard Szewc, Eden; secretary-treasurer, Michael Malyak and recording secretary, Barbara B. Malyak, both of West Seneca.

Carleton Technologies, Orchard Park, was awarded a $350,000 federal contract for electronic regulator prototypes from NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston.

Forecon, Falconer, was awarded a $328,611 federal contract for an Emerald Ash Borer survey from the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Minneapolis. The survey will be done in New York state.

Dresser-Rand Co., Painted Post, was awarded a $202,695 federal contract for the repair and upgrade of high pressure air compressors from the U. S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

DRS C3 Systems, Buffalo, was awarded a $281,735 federal contract for refrigeration, air conditioning and air circulating equipment from the U. S. Air Force Materiel Command, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

MOOG Inc., East Aurora, was awarded a $255,700 federal contract for aircraft components and accessories from the U. S. Air Force Materiel Command, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.

DRS C3 Systems, Buffalo, was awarded a $23,907 federal contract for electrical and electronic equipment components from the U. S. Air Force Materiel Command, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
