The Genesee County Economic Development Center broke ground Friday for the Dr. Bruce A. Holm Upstate MedTech Centre in the Upstate MedTech Park on Assemblyman R. Stephen Hawley Drive, near Genesee Community College, in Batavia. The building is dedicated to Bruce A. Holm, a former Batavia resident and SUNY Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University at Buffalo. Holm also serves as executive director ofUB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. The MedTech Centre will be a 43,000-square-foot facility that will house the GCEDC’s offices, Genesee Community College’s nursing program and United Memorial Medical Center’s physical and occupational therapy programs.

Buffalo-based Titan Wrecking and Environmental recently imploded Penn Circle High Rise, a 20-story vacant apartment building in Pittsburgh as a part of private economic development contract.

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission announced that its “A” rating on 1993 toll revenue bonds was affirmed by Standard&Poor’s, a bond rating agency.
