Jamie Moyer, Philadelphia’s 46-year-old starter, earned career win No. 251, moving him into a tie with Hall of Famer Bob Gibson for 43rd on the all-time list.

Atlanta 4, N. Y. Yankees 0: Brian McCann had two RBIs including a solo homer and the Braves threw consecutive shutouts for the first time in four years. New York’s Chien- Ming Wang (0-6) lost his sixth straight start.

L. A. Dodgers 5, Chicago White Sox 2: Hiroki Kuroda allowed four hits in 8c innin 3/4 1/3 , and the Dodgers continued to thrive without Manny Ramirez. While Ramirez was going hitless in two at-bats for Triple-A Albuquerque in his first game since getting suspended May 7 for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy, the Dodgers were improving to an MLB-best 47-24. They are 26-16 so far during their star slugger’s 50-game punishment.

Minnesota 7, Milwaukee 3: Joe Crede, Carlos Gomez and Brendan Harris combined to drive in six runs for the Twins, who beat the Brewers in water damaged Miller Park. Heavy rains Friday left the Brewers without batting cages, a weight room, conditioning equipment, video services, their private kitchen and their usual furniture after water soaked both clubhouses.

Cleveland 5, Pittsburgh 4: Jhonny Peralta homered and drove in three runs to support rookie David Huff’s eight shutout innings and the Indians halted a six-game losing streak.

Toronto 7, Cincinnati 5: Pitching on three days’ rest, Toronto left-hander Brian Tallet (5-4) matched a season-high with seven strikeouts in six shutout innings. He allowed three hits and walked one.

Detroit 5, Chicago Cubs 4: Chicago’s Micah Hoffpauir hit a go-ahead, two-run shot in the eighth inning, but Detroit’s Ryan Raburn answered with a two-run blast in the ninth.

Florida 7, Baltimore 6 (12): Jorge Cantu singled home Emilio Bonifacio with no outs in the 12th inning for the Marlins. Hanley Ramirez hit his second career grand slam and Dan Uggla homered for Florida. Matt Wieters homered and added an RBI single for Baltimore.

Kansas City 2, Houston 1: Zack Greinke pitched eight sharp innings for his first win in almost a month for the Royals, who broke a five-game losing streak.

San Francisco 4, Oakland 1: Giants starter Tim Lincecum, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner who fueled up with an ice cream taco pregame in the clubhouse, truck out 12 in his fourth career complete game and second this year.

Arizona 8, Texas 2: Justin Upton homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Diamondbacks, who sent the Rangers to their fifth straight loss.

L. A. Angels 4, Colorado 3: Bobby Abreu drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a bases-loaded single in the eighth inning after Rockies third baseman Ian Stewart messed up two bunt plays. Stewart misplayed one bunt into a single and then didn’t have his foot on the base for a forceout on the next.

San Diego 9, Seattle 7: Chad Gaudin tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts and allowed only two runs over seven innings for the Padres, who survived a furious late rally.

National League

St. Louis 3, N. Y. Mets 0: Joel Pineiro pitched a career-best two-hitter to end a five-start losing streak for the Cardinals. Relying on a power sinker, Pineiro (6-8) got an astounding 22 outs on the ground in his fifth career shutout and 11th complete game.
