SPCA FUNDRAISER: A “Wine and Wags Social” and fundraiser will be presented from 6 to 9 p. m. today at the Erie County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 205 Ensminger Road, Town of Tonawanda. The Premier Group will provide an assortment of Niagara Peninsula wines, and cuisine from area restaurants will be offered. Food, drink and toys, courtesy of Pet Supplies Plus, will be on hand for pets. All proceeds benefit animals at the SPCA. Reservations are $35 in advance, $45 at the door. HEALTH EDUCATION SEMINAR: Catholic Health will present “Partial Knee Replacement Made Simple” at 7 p. m. today in the community room of Kenmore Mercy Hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Learn how surgical robots are making knee replacement surgery simpler and less painful, with shorter recovery times. Representatives will demonstrate how a medical robot guides the doctor’s hand during surgery.

TRAVEL EXPO: The Chautauqua County Travel Expo will take place from 1 to 3 p. m. today in the Chautauqua Suites and Meeting Center, 215 West Lake Road, Mayville. It will feature attractions, accommodations and restaurants within the Chautauqua region. Free tours of the Chautauqua Institution and boat tours of the lake are scheduled for noon and 4 p. m. SCHOOL TOURS: Nativity Miguel Middle School of Buffalo (Catholic Central School) hosts a tour of the St. Augustine Campus for boys at 1 p. m. today and the St. Monica Campus for girls at 1 p. m. Thursday. For reservations and information, call Nancy Langer at 984-5146.

LUNCHEON: Women Interested in Cystic Health will hold a luncheon at noon today, followed by installation of officers by Judge Barbara Howe at Brookfield Country Club, Shimmerville Road, Clarence. For reservations, call 652-0375 or 652-9613.

SAFETY PROGRAM: Independent Health Foundation’s Good for the Neighborhood program will take place from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday at West Side Community Services, 161 Vermont St. Free bicycle helmets from the Buffalo Police Athletic League will be available, but sizes and quantity are limited. Erie County Department of Health representatives will be on hand to provide information on asthma, lead poisoning and safe/healthy homes. Call 635-4959.

CANCER FUNDRAISER: The Leukemia&Lymphoma Society will hold its 20th annual Gelatin Splash at 6 p. m. Thursday at Banchetti By Rizzo’s, 550 North French Road, Getzville. The event raises funds for leukemia, lymphoma and blood cancer research. Participants need to collect a minimum $300 in sponsorship to slide into 1000 gallons of gelatin in honor of a local cancer patient. Sliders will receive a T-shirt, food and beverage coupons and be eligible for prizes. To register or for details, call 834-2578.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING: A training session on identifying and reporting child abuse will be held from 7 to 9:30 p. m. Thursday in the LoGuidice Educational Center, 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia. The training is required for all people applying for a provisional or permanent certificate for administrative or supervisory service, classroom teaching service or school service. Cost is $30. ADVENTURE WALK: Niagara Falls State Park will hold an explorative and informative walk from 7:30 to 9:30 p. m. Friday in the park, 3180 DeVeaux Woods Drive. A naturalist will lead the hike and discuss interesting facts and stories surrounding Niagara Falls. For details and registration call, 282-5154.

WATERFALL WALK: Pack a lunch and hike to a cool feeder stream that cascades down the wall of the Cazenovia Creek bed to the stream below from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. Saturday in Knox Farm State Park, 437 Buffalo Road, East Aurora. For details or to register, call 826-8895.
