Plans for Newstead complex to be displayed
Updated: August 20, 2010, 11:42 PM
Newstead town officials intend to have the site development plan for the Akron/Newstead shared public works complex on display soon at Village Hall and Town Hall and Newstead Public Library.
Councilman Thomas George, chairman of the Joint Facilities Committee, said in Monday’s Town Board work session that the plan, in color, would be available soon, and Councilman Harold Finger suggested having it at the library. Town Clerk Dawn Izydorczak said that it also could be posted on the town Web site. George said the plan is not an architectural rendering but will show building and road locations.
The $3.9 million complex will be built on 22 vacant acres on Clarence Center Road near Hake Road. The property purchase, for an estimated $185,000, is expected to be finalized soon, but ownership of a gas well on the property is still being sorted out.
George said a daylong workshop will be held soon for representatives of the town and village governments and the village public works management and labor force regarding the project, which is expected to be completed by next spring. Also at that workshop will be representatives of Christa Construction, project managers, and Stantec Construction, which is doing the design.
In its regular meeting, the board:
Set a public hearing for 7:50 p. m. June 22 on installation of 3,500 linear feet of 8- inch water line on Scotland Road between Bloomingdale and Indian Falls roads. The project is estimated at $390,000 and will be paid for by serial bonds.
Declared the town as lead agency on a special-use permit and site plan for a day care center at 5149 Crittenden Road. Domenic and Jeannine Morlacci hope to have the business in operation by Sept. 1, according to John Good, town code enforcement officer. A public hearing will be scheduled after receipt of “updated site plans” according to Good.
Approved a $40,500 water service contract with town engineers Wendel Duchscherer.
