Dazzle Fest scheduled for July 17-18

FREDONIA — This year’s Victorian Dazzle Festival, set for July 17 and 18 in the village’s downtown area, will offer plenty of activities, including events that will take the public back to the days when life ran at a much slower pace.
On both days, events will include gift shop crawls from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. and horse-drawn trolley ghost tours from 7 to 10:30 p. m. both days; reservations are required for the tours and can be made by calling 672-4818.
On July 17, psychic readings will be offered from 6 to 9:30 p. m. on the lawn of the White Inn, along with music from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. in Barker Commons. A free contra dance is planned from 8:30 to 10 p. m. on the White Inn’s lawn.
July 18 is packed with entertainment as well. The downtown farmers’ market will be in full swing from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m. A Civil War encampment, Art in the Park exhibits and demonstrations and Antiques in the Park will all be held from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. in Barker Commons.
From 10 a. m. to 3 p. m., antique appraisals will be done in Barker Commons for Fredonia’s own version of “Antiques Roadshow.” Appraisals will cost $5 for the first item and $2 for each additional item.
The Lazy Day Dog Parade and pet costume contest is scheduled for 10:30 to 11:30 a. m. in Barker Commons. A free puppet show, including facts about Fredonia’s history, will begin at 11:30 a. m. in the Barker Commons gazebo. Music in the park will include Jim Pazderski, a strolling organ grinder.
A free workshop on 19th century Fredonia artist Alvah Bradish is planned from 1:30 to 2:30 p. m. at the Barker Museum, and a Victorian fashion display is planned from 12:30 to 1:30 p. m. in the Commons. Local cemetery tours, as are self-guided Fredonia walking tours, will be available.
Barbara Sanson, a spiritual healer, will conduct a workshop called “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Spirits and Mediums” at 2:30 p. m. in the Intermezzo Coffeehouse on Park Place. Reservations for this event, with carries a fee, may be made by calling 672-6070.
Intermezzo also will host Victorian spirit circles and socials at 4:15 and 6:00 p. m. Psychic readings will be held on from 6 to 9:30 p. m. the White Inn’s lawn.
The 1891 Opera House will show the film “Easy Virtue” at 8 p. m., and silent movies will begin at 8:30 p. m. on the White Inn’s lawn.
