Updated: August 21, 2010, 12:26 AM
Cheektowaga police made six DWI arrests over the July 4th weekend, and all six people recorded a blood-alcohol level of at least 0.14 percent, police officials reported Monday. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
One of the arrests involved a person who apparently had fallen asleep or passed out at the wheel of his vehicle, with the engine running, at the side of the road, while another involved a woman accused of driving drunk with children in the car, including a 10-year-old.
That woman, Brandon Welch, 34, of Buffalo, was charged with DWI and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. She was accused of having a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent.
In another incident, Raleigh Adams, 46, of Cheektowaga, was found inside his vehicle on Pine Ridge Road, with his foot pressed down on the gas pedal and smoke coming from the engine, after he had fallen asleep or passed out, police reported. His BAC level was 0.15 percent.
Police said the other four people arrested for DWI, with their blood-alcohol levels, were Zachary Shoop, 24, of Cheektowaga, 0.19 percent; Nicholas Knezevic, 27, of Buffalo, 0.15 percent; Sean White, 41, of Cheektowaga, 0.14 percent; and Stephen Dziwulski, 23, of Cheektowaga, 0.18 percent.
