A Thompson Street man seeking change for a $20 bill was robbed in the elevator of a Pearl Street building at about 3 p. m. Tuesday, Buffalo police said.

The victim, 23, told police he was in 221 Pearl and asked for change for a $20 bill. The man took the $20 and got onto an elevator with the victim. The robber displayed a pocket knife and and fled, police said.
