SUDDENLY IT’S 1777— Step back 232 years into history this weekend as the Hull Family Home and Farmstead, 5976 Genesee St. at Pavement Road, Lancaster, hosts the only Revolutionary War Encampment this year in Western New York. Warren Hull, who built the house around 1810, was a Revolutionary War veteran.

Reviving the hit and run warfare of the Niagara Frontier in those days are two sets of reenactors— Hoisington’s Rangers, a militia without uniforms that protected American sympathizers, and Brant’s Volunteers, ostensibly a Native American unit led by Mohawk chief Joseph Brant, but mostly irregular Loyalists who were unpaid and lived off what they looted.

Hours are 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Saturday and Sunday, with a battle at 2 p. m. Admission is $3 adults, $1 youths 12 to 18, under 12 free. Saturday night sees an 1800s dance with music by City Fiddle with caller Jerry Brubaker. Dance tickets are $5. For info, call 741-7032.

DOG DAY—“Paws and Hearts” is the first dog walk fundraiser sponsored by Pet Connection Programs Inc., the Southtowns animal shelter. It takes place from noon to 5 p. m. Saturday at Knox Farm State Park off Buffalo Road (Route 16 and 78) outside East Aurora.

The afternoon includes a pet blessing, demonstrations, vendors, food for owners and pets and consultations with pet psychic Renee Karen.
