A workshop on the state’s new historic preservation tax credit for residential builders and owners will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p. m. Sept. 30 at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society. The time of the meeting was incorrect in an article in Thursday’s editions.
A beach cleanup will be held from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday at Lake Erie State Park in Brocton. The headline in a notice in Wednesday’s News incorrectly said the park is in Hamburg. Those interested in volunteering should call 792-9214.
A news item in some editions Monday said that Troy C. Shepherd, 20, of Niagara Falls, had been charged as part of an attempted burglary at 84 Lumber in Wheatfield. Shepherd was at the scene where another man was arrested in connection with the case, but he was not charged. Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said the case remains under investigation.
Olivia Patricia Thomas is currently the second longest-lived person ever from Iowa, not the longest-lived person as was reported Saturday. E. Verona Johnston, who was born Aug. 6, 1890 and died Dec. 1, 2004, holds the record. Thomas will have to make it to Oct. 25 to break that record.
