I am a proud adoptive mother and a supporter of the pro-life movement. I feel the need to “blather” a bit about what peaceful, prayerful, pro-lifers are doing outside the abortion centers.

Ask any infertile couple if they mind that babies are being aborted at the rate of 4,000 a day. Ask me how much my husband and I prayed to get pregnant, so we could start our family. We waited seven years to adopt our first child. Wouldn’t it have been nice to just get in line outside an imaginary “adoption center” to pick up a child. No such line exists. Nor are there lines outside foster homes. It takes time, classes, home studies and more waiting to even hope to adopt a foster child. Millions of dollars are spent every year by American couples to adopt a child from a foreign country such as Columbia, China or Russia. There is no easy way to do that either. Ask any adoptive parent how they did it.

When your contraceptive method of choice fails you, please give your “unwanted child” to a loving couple who would accept your baby, love it and give it a family. There are many still waiting in line.
