Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:56 AM
VILLENOVA—A 35-year-old Sinclairville woman was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, on Saturday after the car in which she was riding veered off a rural road and struck a tree, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Billie Jo Tarbell’s injuries did not appear life-threatening, deputies said. The driver of the car, Robert R. Sargent, 26, of Cassadaga, was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, with minor injuries.
Deputies charged Sargent with driving while intoxicated and failing to reduce speed at a curve. Sargent was driving west on Bard Road at Hamlet Road in the Town of Villenova when he lost control. His car struck a stop sign, veered into a ditch and struck a tree, the Sheriff’s Office said.
