3 Buffalo youths accused in arson, robbery spree
Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:46 AM
Three Buffalo youths are accused of a recent crime spree—ranging from arson to robbery—in the northwest section of the city.
Juan C. Quiros, 18, of West Ferry Street, is charged with arson, larceny and criminal mischief, police said.
Jose Limas, 17, of Chenango Street, and Robyn C. Baker, 18, of Potomac Avenue, are charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
The arrests stem from an investigation by Fire Marshals Joseph J. Tomizzi and James J. O’Neill, who were investigating a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe that was set on fire at Forest Avenue and Baynes Street early Thursday morning.
Information led the fire marshals to Quiros, who is accused of the crime.
Officers and detectives from the Northwest District assisted in the investigation, which led them to the two others—Limas and Baker. Police accuse them of stealing iPods, sunglasses, change and other property from dozens of parked cars during an overnight crime spree on Penhurst Park, Inwood Place, Granger Place, Ashland Avenue, Baynes Street and Forest Avenue.
Limas and Quiros face additional charges for armed robberies on Elmwood Avenue and the area of Ashland and Bird avenues in May.
