Wasabi ???(Aug. 21) 3701 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg. (828-1881, www.wasabius.com). The third version of this successful Japanese restaurant — the others are in Williamsville and on Elmwood Avenue — features the same menu and handsome decor.
Riverbend Inn & Vineyard ??(Aug. 14) 16104 Niagara River Parkway, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. (905-468-8866, 888-955-5553, www.riverbendinn.ca). Think of it as a Canadian version of Tara. This pillared white house overlooks its own vineyards and provides opportunity for both indoor and outdoor dining. Enter from John Street.
Fiddle Heads ??? (Aug. 7) 62 Allen St. (883-4166). A long-standing restaurant of quality on the edge of the Theater District. Sleek in decor. The food boasts an innovative and contemporary edge.
Ming Teh ???(July 31) 126 Niagara Blvd., Fort Erie, Ont. (905-871-7971; (www.mingteh.dinnerschoice.com). A long-established Chinese restaurant with a huge menu of standard and not-so-standard Chinese dishes.
Basket Factory ??? (July 24) 2 Watson Ave., Middleport (735-9260; www.thebasketfactory.net). This charming country restaurant offers a varied and large menu.
San Marco ???? (July 17) 2082 Kensington Ave., Snyder (839-5876; www.sanmarcobuffalo.com). Long noted as one of the best upscale Italian restaurants in the area. Fine food; a dignified setting; remarkable wine list and a warm welcome.
Buffalo Tap Room & Grill ??(July 10) 2309 Eggert Road, Tonawanda (832-6054; www.buffalotaproom.com). A large casual restaurant/ bar that offers a big menu of “all-American cuisine and more.” Not to mention 21 beers on tap, many made specially for the restaurant.
Wilson Boat House ??? (July 3) 57 Harbor St., Wilson (751-6060; www.wilsonboathouse.com). As pretty a site on Lake Ontario as you will ever see. A casual marine ambience, a handsome deck and a very active bar scene. Now under new management. One transient boat slip available; call the Wilson Boatyard to secure.
Fanny’s ??? (June 26) 3500 Sheridan Drive, Amherst (834-0400). A long-standing upscale restaurant that offers popular standard foods in glamorous surroundings. A three-course Early Supper Menu is offered from 4 to 6 p. m. every day except holidays.
