Oak Street resurfacing set to start Monday
Updated: August 21, 2010, 12:22 AM
BATAVIA—Construction is about to begin on a $500,000 project to resurface Route 98 (Oak Street) in the City of Batavia, state Department of Transportation officials have announced.
Work is set to begin Monday and be complete before school starts in September. The project along Oak stretches from Main Street to Noonan Drive, just south of the Thruway. Work includes pavement milling and overlay and an upgraded traffic signal at Route 98 and Richmond Avenue.
The four-lane roadway also will be repainted to provide one 14-foot travel lane in each direction and an 8-foot parking lane along both sides. Left turning lanes will be included at the intersection of Richmond Avenue. A single lane of northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained throughout the construction phase.
