HOME AGAIN—Happy to be moving to Allentown are the folks from Folkloric Productions Dance Co., who are in residence at El Museo, 91 Allen St., starting today. They’ll be feeling enough at home by Friday to celebrate their return to Allen Street during the First Friday Gallery Walk.
Executive Director Cathy Skora says that, beginning Sept. 14, there will be dance, meditation and yoga sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Also in the works are shared-theme events with El Museo throughout the year. For information, call 876-6291 or visit www.folkloric.org.
TEE IT UP—Deadline is Friday to finish reserving your spot in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Scramble Golf Tournament, scheduled for Sept. 12 at Brighton Golf Course in the Town of Tonawanda. Tee times are from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m., and registration is 30 minutes before you tee off.
The cost is $300 per foursome, which includes greens fee, cart, golf and lunch, followed by a happy hour at 6 p. m. and a buffet dinner at 7 in the Klauder Parish Center, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Accompanying dinner guests are $25 per person.
Net proceeds benefit the students through scholarships and tuition assistance at St. John’s School, which is ranked the top grade school in Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda by Business First magazine. For information and registration, call Michelle Salemi at 868-0096.
MARKET MAKERS— Hoping for a top prize in a national contest is the Broadway Market Farmers’ Market, which offers fresh produce from local family farmers six days a week. The market is a contender in the “Love Your Farmers’ Market” contest sponsored by Care2, an online food-lovers site, and LocalHarvest, a Web site that helps people find food grown close to home.
Top prize in the contest, which continues until Sept. 17, is $5,000, with smaller dollar amounts for the first four runners-up. Currently, the Broadway Market sits in 40th place, so it could use some support. Vote by visiting www.care2.org/farmersmarket.
MORE REUNIONS— The Class of 1950 at Burgard Vocational High School will hold its annual reunion at 1 p. m. Oct. 5 in Victoria Square Restaurant, 717 Ridge Road, Lackawanna. There’s a change of venue for the 35th anniversary reunion of the Class of 1974 at Bennett High School. Now classmates will meet from 8:30 to 11:30 p. m. Oct. 9 at the Steer Restaurant, 3151 Main St., just up the street from their alma mater.
