Cleveland 15, Oakland 3: Shin-Soo Choo homered twice and drove in a career-high seven runs to lead the Indians, who snapped a five-game losing streak. Choo had an RBI single, two-run double, three-run blast and a solo shot, his 11th and 12th homers. Cleveland, with the worst record in the AL at 32-49, won for only the third time in 16 games.

Seattle 7, Boston 6 (11): Rob Johnson doubled home two runs in the top of the 11th. Jose Lopez added a solo homer for Seattle, which won for the 11th time in 16 games. Tim Wakefield made his 383rd start for the Red Sox, surpassing Roger Clemens for the top spot on the team’s all-time list.

Texas 3, Tampa Bay 1: Tommy Hunter earned his first career victory on his 23rd birthday, Hank Blalock homered and the Rangers won their third in a row. Hunter (1-1) was making his sixth career start and third this season.

Chicago White Sox 5, Kansas City 0: John Danks threw 7x 1/3 hutout innings and got a big lift from reliever Scott Linebrink as the White Sox beat the Royals for their seventh straight victory.

Detroit at Minnesota: Kevin Slowey was tied with four other pitchers for the wins lead in the majors. He came into Friday’s game with a 10-3 record. This was Slowey’s second try for win No. 11.

Baltimore at L. A. Angels: After being sidelined with right triceps inflammation, Ervin Santana was back on the mound for the Angels on Friday. He hadn’t pitched since allowing six runs and eight hits in 4c innin 3/4 1/3 June 11.

National League

Chicago Cubs 2, Milwaukee 1 (10): Jake Fox drew a bases-loaded walk off Mike DiFelice to force in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning.

Pittsburgh 7, Florida 4: Brandon Moss and Ramon Vazquez homered and Charlie Morton pitched six shutout innings for the Pirates. Hanley Ramirez failed to drive in a run for the first time in 11 games for Florida.

Atlanta 9, Washington 8: Pinch hitter Brooks Conrad hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh inning and the Braves took their season-high fifth straight win.

Philadelphia 7, N. Y. Mets 2: Rodrigo Lopez took a three-hitter into the seventh inning in his first outing in two years, helping the Phillies snap a six-game home losing streak. Mets starter Livan Hernandez lasted three-plus innings, allowing seven runs.

St. Louis 7, Cincinnati 4: Albert Pujols hit his club-record fourth grand slam of the season, and Jarrett Hoffpauir drove in the go-ahead runs in the ninth with his first career hit.

Colorado 5, Arizona 0: The Rockies have won a season-best six straight at Coors Field, and moved to 24-9 overall since Jim Tracy replaced Clint Hurdle as manager. The Diamondbacks made three errors.

L. A. Dodgers at San Diego: Petco Park was expected to be sold out with plenty of Dodgers fans making the roughly two-hour drive south to see the return of one of the majors’ best and most enigmatic players, Manny Ramirez. The outfielder returned from his 50-game suspension.

Houston at San Francisco: The Astros were trying to end their long climb back to .500 on Friday night. They hadn’t been there since the second game of the season, but a win would have put them at 39-39. Houston had won six of its last eight, and took three of four in San Diego earlier this week.
