A Machias man was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday while Erie County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a domestic dispute.

Kenneth Proudy, 40, of Rosyk Hill, was charged with obstructing, menacing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, officials with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies David Barbaritz and Nathan Bork responded at 11:30 a. m. to a domestic dispute between adult sisters on East Main Street in Springville.

While the deputies were mediating the dispute, Proudy—the father of the two women—“physically interfered” with the deputies, and had to be subdued with pepper spray, sheriff’s officials said.

Proudy was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in Springville Court.
