The Massachusetts Avenue Project will receive $300,000 from the Junior League of Buffalo proceeds from the 2013 Junior League/Buffalo News Decorators’ Show House.

The funds will be used to construct a Community Food Training and Resource Center at MAP’s urban farm. Since 2003, MAP’s Growing Green Program has increased access to nutritious food for thousands of Buffalo’s residents and provided jobs and leadership development to 500 youths. Components of the program include an organic urban farm and aquaphonics greenhouses, a youth-run enterprise, a Mobile Market, community outreach and training, including cooking and nutrition education, and food systems advocacy.

Since 1981, the Show House project has raised nearly $3.5 million for Western New York nonprofit groups.
